Pluto was discovered in 1930 and was originally known as the ninth planet. But, questions were raised about its status after 1992. In 1992, it was reclassified as a dwarf planet. Obviously, the interesting fact about Pluto is its size. The distance from Northern California to Maine is 2,900 miles. But, Pluto is just 1400 miles across. This makes it half the width of the U.S. Pluto’s small size was also a reason why its planet status was taken away from it.
